Bitcoin is a revolutionary technology of freedom - with Stadicus by Shiftcrypto

In this podcast episode, Niko Jilch and Stadicus talk about why it is so important to hold your own keys. On the one hand, to protect yourself from hacks and insolvencies of exchanges. On the other hand, it is one of the central requirements for using Bitcoin, because Bitcoin has turned money into information - and that is a revolution!

This weekly podcast about Bitcoin is the initiative of the Viennese financial journalist Niko Jilch. The goal: to strengthen and network the German-speaking Bitcoin community - and to bring the Bitcoin phenomenon closer to as broad a mass as possible.

We accompany this project as one of the main sponsors in this blog and also make all podcast episodes available here as a video.

What Bitcoin brings. Episode from 06.12.2022

In a world of monetary censorship and surveillance by states and corporations, Bitcoin is needed. Bitcoin can bring freedom where it has been absent. And it can protect freedom where it is in danger. But for that, the technology needs to be understood, explained, and developed. It may be that Germans, Austrians and Swiss don't understand the need for censorship-resistant money: "But everything is forbidden somewhere," says Stadicus.

His company Shiftcrypto has developed BitboxO2, one of the best hardware wallets, which massively facilitates the handling of Bitcoin in everyday life and of course also makes it more secure. In this episode, Niko and Stadicus talk about the importance of "self custody", of course, but also about the philosophical background of the Cypherpunk movement, to which we owe many achievements around security and privacy on the web even before Bitcoin.
