"Germans like rules and bans" - with Anna Schneider

Anna Schneider, author and chief reporter at the "Welt" newspaper in Berlin, fights for the freedom of the individual. In doing so, there is no getting around Bitcoin. Niko and Anna talk about freedom in Europe, the consequences of the pandemic policy and the chances of Bitcoin.

This weekly podcast about Bitcoin is the initiative of the Viennese financial journalist Niko Jilch. The goal: to strengthen and network the German-speaking Bitcoin community - and to bring the Bitcoin phenomenon closer to as broad a mass as possible.

We accompany this project as one of the main sponsors in this blog and also make all podcast episodes available here as a video.

What Bitcoin brings. Episode from 13.12.2022

Anna Schneider, a native of Carinthia, is a freedom fighter, author and chief reporter at "Welt" Berlin. She has found her topic: Freedom. Freedom of the individual. Freedom of opinion. Her book is entitled: "Freedom begins with the I." A provocative title, many think. "I", that sounds like egoism - in the negative sense. But for Anna, it's only logical: because all freedom rights also begin with the individual. And: "Liberalism is the most social thing there is, after all."

She has dedicated an entire chapter of her book to the philosopher Ayn Rand. She says that you shouldn't worry about what others think about you. That you can't control them anyway. It is a self-centeredness that Rand also likes to interpret as egoism to this day. But Ayn Rand is often misunderstood - as is Anna Schneider.

In Berlin, Anna says, nothing really works. "Maybe Germans just like rules and bans too much to really approach freedom," Anna speculates.
