The Austrian Bitcoin Meetup of the year starts already next week - the Bitcoin Citadel 2023 in Austria. 3 days full of workshops, talks, sports, meditation, party and good food - by plebs for plebs. Two of the organizers are Andi and Thomas from Coinfinity. They met up with Niko in the podcast studio to talk about the event.

This weekly podcast about Bitcoin is the initiative of the Viennese financial journalist Niko Jilch. The goal: to strengthen and network the German-speaking Bitcoin community - and to bring the Bitcoin phenomenon closer to as broad a mass as possible.

So what is the Bitcoin Citadel? "A Bitcoin maxi-meeting in the German-speaking world" or "a black box, because unlike most events, the organizers don't reveal anything about which people are coming to do talks, lectures, and workshops. At the Citadel, there are plebs - and nothing else," Niko explains.

The Citadel is the creation of the Twenty-One Bitcoin community. The event has been around for 3 years now and has taken place once each in Germany and Switzerland. Now it's Austria's turn with the Bitcoin Citadel 2023 and the organizers have chosen an old farm near Graz, Styria as the event location for the 13.07. to 16.07. - the Lässerhof.

Nearly 250 guests from over 30 different Twenty-One Meetups are expected. There is no shortage of programming, with workshops, talks, hikes aka Pleb Walks, yoga, meditation sessions and parties planned. Bitcoin rappers from Pleb Rap will also perform there. "But we want to keep it relaxed and have a cozy get-together among Bitcoiners," Thomas says.

The physical well-being is also taken care of, because the food is included in the ticket price. "Many plebs arrive in their campers - there is a pitch for them. Tents can also be pitched on a tent meadow right next to the camper pitches," Andi tells us.

Tickets are no longer available for purchase: "We have not only limited the number of participants for this event, but also the number of talks, events and workshops. We want to give you space for exchange. Have conversations, get to know the others, network. Have Fun!", we read on the Citadel 2023 website.
